How can I keep my mental health in times of uncertainty? More and more of our clients are reporting increased levels of uncertainty and anxiety about their lives. Uncertainty and the anxiety that comes with it are part of life. So, it’s helpful to improve your tolerance to uncertainty. Be aware of your specific thoughts. Are you thinking about politics, money, your children? Be specific about what actions you can take to become more comfortable, and be just as specific about what you have no control over. Practice acceptance of things that you can’t change - acceptance is not agreeing with or supporting something, but simply acknowledging that it is what it is. Let go of thoughts that build anxiety. When you lessen your struggle with uncertainty, you are better able to stay in the present moment and focus your daily living on things that bring meaning and satisfaction to your life.
